The Good News Post

Posted: September 13, 2012 in Uncategorized

Hello All!

A while back I asked if you knew of any good news you wanted to share.  Well Good News, you did!  Now I’m happy to share your good news with the rest of the world.    A couple of weeks ago Josh Urban visited our studio (more about Josh to come).  Josh is doing an Interactive Rail Tour across the East Coast to spread the word about people who he calls “Comrades.” Comrades are other independent artists, like Josh who has something to share.  Be it a good cause or a jam session, Josh is currently on tour now making his way to Alexandria, VA where we’ll meet up and party on King Street in Old Town.  He then continues on his journey making his way to Charlottesville, VA.  But here’s the man himself spelling it all out for you.  You can find Josh Urban and his Interactive Rail Tour on Facebook; don’t forget to #JURT to let him know you’re watching:

All aboard the #JURT! (You don’t even have to be in the same country!) Everyone’s got a story. What’s yours? Share it with the world from Friday, September 7th, to Monday, September 17th using the hashtag #JURT to broadcast to a worldwide audience on social media.

So, what about me? I’m taking a total of 8 trains from Charlotte, NC, all the way to NYC, playing street music, jamming with people (hopefully you!) along the way, and sharing it all over social media, broadcasting live over my Google + page (gplus.to/joshurban) and YouTube channe (www.youtube.com/poodlemanjosh)l.

My audience is your audience! I’m taking the world on tour, bro! At the end of the tour, I’ll be gathering all media and putting together a video of it!

Here’s how you participate:

1. Tweet, Instagram, and post on Google + using the hashtag #JURT. Use my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/officialjosh

Tell your story, share your photos, the world as you see it, your observations, poems, music show promo, cool recipes…anything cool! See it in the compilation video at the end of the tour!

 2. Come jam with me! I’ll be in the following cities:

 Alexandria, VA 9/7

 Charlottesvile, VA 9/7

 Charlotte, NC 9/8

 Richmond, VA 9/9

 Washington, DC 9/14

 Philadelphia, PA 9/15

 New York, NY 9/16

3. Tell your friends! Get THEM to tour, and to follow you on your very own #JURT tour, as well!

It’s the world – on tour.

See you there, comrade!

More Good News

At The RAM Jam TV Show we are quick to report the Good News that’s on our radar, but nothing gets us more excited than when an artist is doing their part!  We know that it’s a challenge to do what independent/unsigned artists do all the time.  To keep the desire and the drive while building a fan base, dealing with management or even self-management.  But when an artist takes the time to focus on a need that impacts their community, well, that gets us really talk’in.  As is the case with longtime artist Queen Guttah aka Stephanie Spinner from Washington, DC, Queen as we affectionately call her will be participating in the Hip-Hop 4 the Homeless 5k Run/Walk event October 14 in Fort Hunt, Virginia.  Check out their website for details http://hiphop4thehomeless.wordpress.com/

Hip –Hop 4 the Homeless was founded by Social Entrepreneur Brother MANIAC (Major Cameron) for the purpose of putting on music events and fundraisers to assist Homeless Organizations in various cities in the US and Abroad.   The goal of the organization is to raise money and put on events, food drives, clothing drives all to assist Homeless individuals and families get back to point of being in a home and self-sufficient condition.

Now finally,

A Word from the Coach

In this lag time as the kids go back to school and we become adjusted to our new schedules or in some cases, our new found freedom we sometimes  need a butt-kickin, made accountable for, get back focused and turn-your-life-around talking to.  Here are some reminders about living radically successful with my favorite life coach Doreen Rainey:

 Your Big Ol’ But

A couple of weeks ago, I was talking with someone who shared the big goals they were working on. They excitedly went on and on about all that they were going to do and what life would be like once they were accomplished.

As they got more animated and enthusiastic about the direction they were headed, I found myself getting just as pumped up and inspired as they were by hearing them lay out what was to come.

Then I realized something. This conversation sounded very familiar. Like I’d had it before…with this same person!

Then it hit me! We’d actually had a conversation similar to this quite a while ago and I quickly saw that they had made little progress towards achieving them.

When I gently pointed this out, they acknowledged their slow progress but quickly offered a reason. Hearing it, I offered what I thought was a pretty good solution to what they just said. They nodded in agreement and then said, “Yea…but…”

Hearing them out, I empathized with them, however, saw a way for them to work through it. When I shared a new approach they could take with the situation, they nodded in agreement and then said, “Yea…but”.

This went on for another 2 rounds of their excuses, my solutions and the inevitable “yea…but”.

Finally, I ended the conversation and wished them the best, simply stating, “Your but is too big for me”!

Have you experienced this before? Maybe a friend or family member has come to you and asked for advice. They seem genuine in their request and are attentive to your response, indicating that they are ready to take decisive action on whatever you recommend. And then….it happens.

Their big but gets in the way.

Or, maybe you are the one with the big but! Have you ever said the following:

But…I don’t know how.

But…I don’t have any support.

But…you don’t know MY situation.

But…I don’t have enough time.

But…I have too many other things to do.

But…it’s too hard.

But…I don’t know where to start.

If you’ve ever explored working with a coach, you may have been told that coaches want to work with people who are “ready”. What does ready mean? It means you are ready to retire your big ol’ but!

It means that instead of looking immediately at the obstacles that come with getting what you want, you focus on the possibilities. It means that instead of seeing the challenges, you see the solutions.

I say retire your “big but” and replace it with a new mantra: “how can I make it happen”.

When you turn your attention to proactive steps you can take to overcome your challenges, you realize your but isn’t so big after all!

Azeez Adeshina Akinpelu, formally known on stage as ‘Dotstar aka Lagosboi’ is a young talented voice from North West London but he has come a very long way from nappies and a baby’s bottle. Growing up in a one bedroom flat in East London’s Hackney Adeshina was forced to manage the small things that he had. His parents were not millionaires but they would do everything to keep Adeshina smiling, buying him pianos, drums, guitars and his very first Michael Jackson Double CD was the start of what lead him to become what he is today. Dotstar’s music conveys a great deal of African influence and this is because of his background. Regularly visiting the motherland to see family and receive inspiration he is extremely proud of his roots. But don’t let Dotstar’s young face fool you, now 18, Adeshina has grown into a matured artist, writing and performing concept and dance songs. He is currently working on his album (Untitled) and his mixtape (Introducing:Lagosboi Vol.1) while promoting his second single ‘She’s Killing Me’

He’s a cool dude from head- to-toe donning sunglasses throughout his entire that sort of reminds me of the man in black, Johnny Cash and delivers a great performance. Planetary Band Music is David’s business that specializes in music lessons, recording and performances. He also MCs many Open Mics in Reston and Chantilly, Virginia don’t miss him at Open Mic and check him out on RAM JAM!

GOOD NEWS The IBrain

The iBrain. It is designed to take brainwaves and have them be communicated on a computer. It consists of a black headband that contains neurotransmitters.

Essentially this is the latest experiment into mind reading, Stephen Hawking has already used the technology.

Last summer the creator
Dr. Phillip Low
traveled to England to meet with Hawking. He fitted him with the iBrain device and asked him to use as much of his brain power as he could to imagine he was scrunching his hand into a ball. The aim was to see whether his thoughts could be transcribed into words, through a series of signals.

At the time, Low told the New York Times: “We wanted to see if there was any change in the signal. And in fact, we did see a change in the signal.”

Low told the Telegraph that his brainwave technology “opens the possibility to link intended movements to a library of words and convert them into speech, thus providing motor neuron sufferers with communication tools more dependent on the brain than on the body.”

Hawking’s hand muscles are fading. He can no longer use the clicker with which he formerly activated his voice machine.

He now has to operate a “cheek switch,” which means it takes several minutes for a message to be generated.

The iBrain has already been proposed as an alternative to sleep labs and the researchers behind it believe it may even be able to, one day, help with the treatment of depression and even autism.

WOW!

How Long Do You Keep Trying?

By Doreen Rainey

One of the questions I often get is “how long do I keep trying?”

If they are pursuing their own business: “How long do I try?”

If they are working to improve a relationship: “How long do I try?”

If they are hoping to excel at their current employer: “How long do I try?”

Have you ever felt that way?

Have you felt like you’ve been working, trying, pushing, committed, focused and in hot pursuit of something you really want – something you really believe in – and it’s just not happening.

Maybe you have already given so much. Your time, resources, effort, blood, sweat, tears and your heart and soul. And still….it’s not coming together.

Jim Rohn has said: How long should you try? Until

Not only do I believe this quote, but when I speak at conferences and workshops and coach my clients, I often say that you should never give up. That when you are faced with the choice to stop or to keep going – you should always choose to keep going. However, let me clarify exactly what I mean.

When I say never stop, to never give up. I’m talking about the ultimate goal: To live a life where you are joyful, fulfilled, and connected – having a sense of purpose and accomplishment that is truly individually defined by you. That when you wake up – you are fully energized and excited about what opportunities are before you, yet also grateful and reflective of all that you already have and have already accomplished.

And it’s on THAT goal that I say “never stop” and “keep going.”

Now, in the quest to achieve that ultimate goal, you may start some things, stop some things, change directions, reevaluate, realign your resources, adjust your efforts or alter your circle of influence.

You may choose to let some ideas go, let some people go, seek out other options or continue on the current path. You may need to leave a job, apply for a new job, start a business, close down a business, seek out new relationships or continue to foster the ones you have. You may need to move across the country or down the street or make the decision to sell everything and travel the world.

While life is a journey, we should absolutely be clear on our destination – it’s not a certain position in our company, a certain revenue goal in our business, a list of letters behind our name, a certain weight or size, or a particular number in our bank account.

It’s about living full out. Doing, being, giving and having on a level that gives you deep meaning and an all-consuming feeling of contentment. It’s about the quest for inner peace, fulfillment and making a contribution.

And on THAT goal – we never stop trying

Well that’s it for this week but we have a very special blog for you coming up. We will be talking about R&B singer Venise Fox, who will be gracing the RAM JAM stage in July. Until then, HAPPY JAMMING!

Dress for Success!

Founded in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help clients find jobs and remain employed. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and can return for a second suit or separates when she finds work.

Since 1997, Dress for Success has served more than 550,000 women around the world. Each year we reach more than 50,000 women in the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, Mexico, Poland and the West Indies.

On her initial visit, a woman receives a suit appropriate for the industry in which she is interviewing and, if available, accessories. After a woman finds a job she returns to Dress for Success for additional clothing that can be mixed and matched to make several outfits, providing her with the foundation for a professional wardrobe.

While we may be best known for providing suits to women, it is our employment retention programs that are the cornerstone of the organization. Soon after Dress for Success was founded we came to recognize that finding work is only one step in a woman’s journey towards economic independence; remaining employed and building a rewarding career are essential if a woman is to become self-sufficient.

Suits and Blouses Ready For Clients

To meet the need for services that would help women both find and keep jobs, they established the Professional Women’s Group (PWG) program, which offers women ongoing support as they successfully transition into the workforce, build thriving careers and prosper in the mainstream workplace. Once a woman joins the PWG she is a member for life, able to attend meetings at any affiliate throughout the world and can benefit from additional employment retention and mentoring programs.

Dress for Success also has developed Career Center, an initiative that promotes confidence and professionalism by providing women career guidance, the chance to acquire technology skills and assistance in their job searches.

Influences: Radio Head, Incubus, Beatles to name just a few.

Infinite Hill out of Northern Virginia has been one of the best performances to date. These six dudes showed up to our studio a few weeks ago lively, energetic, flirtatious and fun. Truly artists of their craft, we were blown away by the easiness of Phil on lead guitar, Mani’s smooth, strong vocals you can get a really good idea of the melody I’m going on about by viewing this clip of them performing “Simplicity”:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lknREScNuZ4

You will see the dynamic stage presence of Chris, Dominic is over in the corner doing some Hendrix stuff on rhythm guitar. Adam is a “Wonder” on bass and Derrick is working it out on percussion, at first glance I thought he was Pharrell.

Be Inspired By Her Story

One of the strategies I use to stay focused, on track and motivated to keep working towards my goals is to read, listen or watch inspiring stories of those who have achieved the type of success that resonates with me.

That’s one of the reasons I absolutely love the RADICAL Woman Awards. Reading the stories of the nominees and finalists clearly demonstrate what perseverance, commitment and desire to never give up can do.

Sometimes, as we work to achieve our self defined success, we feel as if we are all alone – as if no one is going through what we are going through. That is simply not true.

Whether you are building your own business, dealing with health challenges, managing difficult relationships or getting your finances together, there are many others who have been there – done that – and came out on top.

Our RADICAL Award winners are shining examples of that. At this year’s Get RADICAL Women’s Conference, each woman shared a piece of her journey with us – invoking smiles, laughter and a few tears. They courageously talked about their impressive achievements as well as the challenges they were forced to overcome.

Stories have a way of moving us…touching us…and reminding us that we can do it – that our dreams are possible.

One Day to Escape

We ran into One Day to Escape in Chantilly, VA. At the time they were doing some cover songs which was fine, but the amazing thing about these boys was that in just three short weeks they wrote, composed and practiced three awesome original songs and performed well. I have to admit we were impressed. The crew Alex, 13; Lance 15; Sean and James 15, came out to the studio and lit up the green screen with energy, personality and rock! Reminding me of no one particular group, there were hints of influence from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Devo. These crazy fun guys did an awesome performance worthy of a repeat. Check out their on air debut Dementia:

J 40 Media Group

Location: Woodbridge, VA

Genre: Every Random Act

Connect: Facebook, Twitter, @RAMJamTVShow http://www.j40mediagroup.com

Normally I would never take this opportunity to promote any other business other than an artist, but this is important for you to know.

Why is it so important?

It’s important because we as a business recognize the need to change the way music handles business. We’ve emphasized before how the industry has changed the way it discovers artists. Today you need to be armed with a proven track record of your marketability (to get fans and sales). We at J 40 thanks to the RAM Jam TV Show are in the unique position to provide an advantage to serious artists who are willing to put in the work to do just that. While still young we realized early on by talking to artists and their managers that the most important thing is exposure and more than just a web-based presence but in mainstream as well. That coupled with a lack of promoting themselves as a business. To achieve a complete package, one must have a web presence, videos and promotional. With a little elbow grease and investment your chances of becoming the next great sensation are closer than you think or at least to run your business on your own terms.

Why J 40 Media Group?

Like I’ve mentioned before J 40 is in the unique position because it offer a platform for “one-stop shopping.” We don’t claim to be able to suite all needs, but we are the best step in the right direction.

Find out more at a sneak peek of our website at www.j40mediagroup.com. It’s not all done yet, but we are so excited to bring you this offering I just couldn’t wait. Be sure to check back on Friday for the official launch. Happy jamm’in with ‘cha!

I PROMISE…

To bring you back the awesome music you’re accustomed to getting when you log on to our blog. We’ve had some exciting acts grace our studio that I just cannot wait to air. One Day to Escape is a boy group headed in the right direction. Infinite Hill is the coolest band yet and Maggie, I can’t wait to tell you about Maggie.

GOOD NEWS?

It’s everywhere! Got a story you’d like to share? Hit us up, we want to hear about it.

YOU

Location: Anywhere

Genre: Any

Connect: Facebook, Twitter, yournamehere.com

Unsigned, independent, whatever your genre, whatever your choice, everyone agrees that the music industry is a changed game. Long gone are the days of being ‘discovered,’ hats off to the indie label that understands this. However the goal of becoming a signed artist does not have to fade. But in your quest of becoming signed, consider some protocol by industry experts including yours truly.

I loved how information was just flowing at the beginning of 2012 when everyone was promising to “step up their game,” I’m reminding you (and me) of some ways to boost your music business, notice I didn’t say career. According to musicthinktank.com they listed 12 tips and reasons for taking your business to the next level. Without going in to as much detail as they did, we are going to list them in no particular order. Then we’ll go into a little more great advice that I discovered on great sites like musiccloud.com. Finally we’ll finish with our expertise – videos.

This is the advice from Music Think Tank. Read more at http://www.musicthinktank.com/blog/12-ways-to-increase-your-fan-base-for-2012.html:

1. Get serious about your newsletter. Use Fanbridge, Nimbit, Hostbaby, Bandzoogle or ReverbNation.

2. Mine through your email inbox and outbox for names and addresses to add.

3. Bring a clipboard to each and every live appearance. Invite people onto your mailing list with a raffle or giveaway from stage, and collect e-mail addresses.

4. Include a special offer on your website with a free exclusive MP3 or video (or better yet – several).

5. Follow 25 new people a week on Twitter.

6. Send out e-mails to your most engaged fans through Facebook and ask if you can have their e-mail addresses for your newsletter.

7. Do the same with any other networks you frequent.

8. Start a simple Tumblr blog and share photos, stories and thoughts.

9. Start a podcast or a vodcast and interview other artists with big followings. Ask them to share your podcast with their fans and followers.

10. Ask your fans to review your music at CD Baby, iTunes, and Amazon.

11. Wish people a happy birthday (everyday) on Facebook!

12. Practice random acts of kindness online regularly. Introduce people to each other who may benefit from knowing one another.

Some advice from MusicClout.com:

First and foremost, you will need actual recorded music to make this whole thing possible.

Once you have recorded music the next logical step is making sure those recordings are protected from copyright infringements by registering them with the library of congress.

Create a spreadsheet where you can add in all of the music publishers that you’re going to be researching.

Research music publishers who work with your style of music, instrumentals and beats, when researching publishers for your music it’s important to note things like non-exclusive or exclusive deals that they offer to their artist.

One thing to keep in mind is that as long as the music publishing deals you’re signing are non-exclusive, you can always look for and work with more publishers for those same songs. However, if the deal is exclusive, it’s going to be a guarantee that the publisher you signed the contract with is going to be the only one who can work with the songs that you signed with them.

Another big step: Your video

Your video is a representation of you, of course. Today’s technology lets you easily bring your best light forward, with a little help from you. When considering your video, consider the viewer, your audience and what they are seeing, literally. These simple questions answered by the pros at The RAM Jam TV Show may help you make some good judgment when it comes to the camera.

What is the best quality?

1080 HD Quality is the best quality for airing videos. Anything less will result in raster scan lines (vertical lines off and on throughout the video) when broadcasting. For example Jigz Crillz is an artist whose videos are always good and therefore takes priority. Check out the quality of his video Van City http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A4meZUwlmE.

What should you include in your video?

Other than the artist name, song title and label name (if you have one) any other credits you want to acknowledge. Your production company, team, and contact information is sometimes included and helpful.

What should not be included?

If there is profanity in your art, take the time to have it edited. This allows you to become more marketable and gives you the ability to reach a greater audience. The same is true for racy outfits and nudity.

Final thoughts: The text should be clear and consistent when used throughout the video and should be included at the beginning and the end. Do your best and rise to reasonable challenges and take this information with you to the top and you should have no problem getting noticed.

GOOD NEWS

Isn’t it great to live in a nation that honors its art through authors, composers and publishers? To live where you can freely do what you love, write it down and express it? Well, it’s also important to track what you do, be protected and get paid! The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and organizations like it exists so that you can do just that. Learn a little more of what they have to offer:

What Is ASCAP?

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is a membership association of more than 435,000 U.S. composers, songwriters, lyricists, and music publishers of every kind of music. Through agreements with affiliated international societies, ASCAP also represents hundreds of thousands of music creators worldwide. ASCAP is the only U.S. performing rights organization created and controlled by composers, songwriters and music publishers, with a Board of Directors elected by and from the membership.

ASCAP protects the rights of its members by licensing and distributing royalties for the non-dramatic public performances of their copyrighted works. ASCAP’s licensees encompass all who want to perform copyrighted music publicly. ASCAP makes giving and obtaining permission to perform music simple for both creators and users of music.

ASCAP is…

Don’t forget to get the rights.

S/N: I’ve started my bunch on Lollipop Listening Therapy last week and it’s been a juggle with the new schedule. Not using that as an excuse, but it can get hectic. I say that to promise not to miss another opportunity to blog on Tuesday for the month of May.

Until then,

D’Sean Mack affectionately and uniquely named “Mizzy Mac” is one of the original artists who has been with us from the very beginning. During the time where the good majority of us did not know neither hyde nor hair of what we were doing. Mack was there to lay it down via track, crazy joke or on-time lyric. He kept the studio live and light-hearted as we managed through chroma-key and set design. The real fun came when Sean released his first full-length CD 100 Gang. That was where we first heard the term (Hundred Gang). Mizzy’s lyrics are a hard-hitting, storytelling prose transforming listeners to only hope not to find themselves fallen victim to the wiles of 100 Gang. According to Sean, 100 Gang is representative of anyone who is making the hard choices of staying true to their work and themselves while pushing ahead for their breakthrough. Mizzy Mack continues to churn out local hit after hit and he just keeps getting better. Find D’Sean Mack and his management team Wooded Hood Entertainment on Facebook and Twitter and don’t forget to shout out to his dedicated team #100Gang!

Keep it up D’Sean, we’re gunn’in for you!

GOOD NEWS

It’s often difficult not to rename this segment Great News! People are coming together every day to eradicate disorders like Autism and Celiac Disease. This past weekend we had the extreme pleasure of documenting a ground-breaking session that bought professionals and parents together to share a discussion on what they have been doing with proven results to make living with the disorder more manageable if not overcoming the symptoms altogether. Sharon Rubin, organizer and creator of Lollipop Listening Therapy had doctors, specialists and nutritionist share everything from diet and exercise to latest medications and recipes. David Geslak, Autism Fitness Specialist and Founder of Exercise Connection enlightened us on the special physical needs of children on the spectrum. Jules Dowler Shepard inspired us with wonderful traditional GFCF foods from her delicious cookbook –”Free For All Cooking” (imagine – POPTARTS).  I cannot fathom not mentioning the beautiful artwork by Kali Barry, http://www.kalisart.com truly wearable art I’m hoping to feature some of her pieces on the show.

We also spent an eye-opening evening with host Dave at Vintage 51 in Chantilly, VA. It’s eye-opening because it further highlights the fierce local talent available throughout the DMV. Looking forward to airing that episode! A huge THANK YOU to all the bands who showed up regardless of us being threatened to get rained-out and thanks again to Dave for being a gracious and understanding host. See you soon in Reston!

RAM Jam, through its parent company J 40 Media Group is ready to expand our market from VA and NY to DC in the spring of this year. We have great opportunity to further our market but only one thing is going to make that happen – sponsors! Email us to find out how you can help keep the Indie scene alive through sponsorship. We do not charge any artist any amount to be on or a part of our show so any amount large or small can secure you a chance to volunteer on our set, spotlight a certain artist or be mentioned on one of our broadcast. There’s plenty of fun to go around!

Last but not least I have blogged in the past about the Radical Women’s Conference Coach Doreen Rainey. Today I would like to present a segment that I like to call…

Is Your Mic Hot?

By: Doreen Rainey

As we attend various events – workshops, conferences, church services or school programs – I’m sure we have all experienced this at some point: Someone is talking – not realizing their mic is “hot”.

They have no idea that the on/off button is “on” and everything they are saying can be heard by those in the audience. It’s happened to celebrities, politicians, and business leaders – some with very uncomfortable and embarrassing results. Well, it happened to me at the Get RADICAL Women’s Conference a couple of weeks ago.

I had just left the stage on Day 3 – having introduced Lisa Nichols (who gave an INCREDIBLE keynote on stepping out of mediocrity and into excellence) – and was making my way to another area of the hotel. As I walked with a few volunteers, I had no idea the sound team had not muted my mic. Anything and everything I said could be heard by all the attendees in the main ballroom.

What I didn’t know at the time was that there people texting me and trying to get to me to let me know I could be heard. They were also trying to get the attention of the sound crew, wondering when they would figure out where the extra noise was coming from.

And what did the attendees hear from me? Nothing. Just a few “hellos” and “thank yous” before the sound team realized it and cut me off. Everyone seemed relieved that I didn’t say something that I would regret.

That incident got me thinking about how sometimes people act one way “on stage” – which can be symbolic for being at work, around family, with friends or in the community – and then act another way when they are “off stage” (when they believe no one can see or hear them).

The question then becomes: what would people hear (and think about you) if your mic was “hot” when you were “off stage” and you didn’t know it?

Would they hear nothing out of the ordinary? Or would they be appalled at the person you really are? What would people discover about you, if, when you didn’t know it, your mic was “hot”?

• Do you smile and compliment friends and family to their face and then talk negatively about them behind their back?

• Do you bad mouth your company and your boss, but act like the model employee in front of them?

• Do you love and dote on your children in public, then demean them in private?

• Do you offer support to leaders of organizations you belong to and then work behind the scenes to undermine their efforts?

• Do you treat your significant other with respect and adoration at family and social events and then ignore them when you’re at home?

I believe one of the best ways to ensure that we don’t have any potential uncomfortable and embarrassing moments is to always act and behave as if our mic is “hot”.

Question to readers and viewers:

We’ve just taped and aired our first “Kids of RAM Jam Kidz Jam.” Though we’ve cleaned it up a bit, given the nature of some of the videos we show do you feel it’s appropriate to have children (ages from 9 – 15) host? Why or why not?

Hit us up at j40mediagroup.com for anything you want to know. Thanks for spending time with us!

 Happy Jamm’in!

It gives me great pleasure to write about this next post – hosts!  This past weekend we decided to try something new and fresh, we added kids to our platform.  These weren’t just ordinary kids, these were incredible kids, not only do they perform well in school, they are enthusiastic, motivated, happy and willing volunteers.  There’s nothing we love more than to expose children to the behind-the-scenes view of TV and radio production.

This leads me to remembering and expressing gratitude to our host who has been with us from the beginning and we have had a stellar year with.  Ms. Johnna Rowe.   Richard met Johnna at the station when we first embarked on this journey through the wonderful world of television production.  Right from the start she was talented and pretty and passed our strenuous test which requires you to be a member of a public access station (that’s all really).  But seriously, Johnna was a gracious host, who would freely offer tips and advice to nerved-up guests, join the festivities or would eloquently deliver an episode on time.  We had a lot of fun working with Johnna on several projects, most of the time we nailed it, other times it was better to forgive and forget.  So a big THANK YOU to Johnna Rowe who was there through our trial and error and has always encouraged and never looked at us like we were out of our minds.

Johnna is a premiere food blogger here in the DMV, you can catch her at Johnna Knows Good Food http://www.johnnaknowsgoodfood.com/ and her television specials by the same name.  Keep up the tasty work Johnna!
